Nintendo would be negotiating with the studio responsible of Minions for the adaptation of Mario in animated film. Indeed, according to information from the Wall Street Journal, Nintendo is close to an agreement with Illumination Entertainment, a subsidiary of Universal Studios, which is already working with Nintendo for the construction of rides Super Nintendo World. According to Wall Street Journal sources, it is not Nintendo but the animation studio that has approached Nintendo and would have convinced them of the seriousness of their approach. It even appears that Shigeru Miyamoto would be very involved in the negotiations and eventually occupy a position of producer with Chris Meledandri, founder and director of llumination Entertainment.
As for films involving the Minions, the French studio Illumination Mac Guff would take care of it. Already, we do not seem to go on a live action movie, which is good news from the start.
