I was lucky to find these two at our weekly market this week. Laurel and red mustard 😊
Laurel is one of my dream trees. I’m dreaming about making my own dried leaves for cooking and also swags for deco. I bought a pot three years ago at a plant market in Berlin Botanical Garden but it died. Recently I found some Italian stands at our weekly market are selling laurel. As I was with my daughter with her buggy today I had space to bring it back.
Red mustard leaves are something must for me for hot summer like Shiso. It has nice spicy peppery taste. I top on cold noodles and rice bowl with other ingredients such as Natto, notorious sticky soy beans. Sometimes I can find the leaves at bio stores but mostly mice with other leaves and sold as “Asian Salad”. I had red mustard seeds few years ago and think about ordering some. But I hesitated to do so because of the expensive postal fee (more than the seeds!). But how lucky I am! Two small plants were 1 Euro 😁
I shouldn’t increase plants too much ... but there will be a plant market at Leipzig Botanical Garden this weekend ...
