This #MarketFriday caught me off guard. Where did time go? Ahhh!
I asked myself what kept me busy these days. And I remembered that my mum was admitted to the hospital (but she's okay now). And it took much of my time. Now, I know.
So, this #MarketFriday will just be quick.
First in the list is this yummy corn. It's not sweet corn. It's more of a sticky corn actually. But this is my son's favorite so whenever we are in the market, he has to have his corn!
Next we bought this fruit of moringa. Moringa is a very popular vegetable in our country, but in our place we do not eat the fruit, only the leaves, so I am amazed. This is very nutritious they say, and it's delicious too!
Next is the ube yam. This caught my attention because I have never seen ube as huge as this. Ube is a tuberous yam native to the Philippines. It's violet in color. That why our word for violet is ube. We are very fortunate to have this, since the natural sweetness of the ube yam and its natural color is often used in desserts like ice cream, cakes and pastries.
And this is the boiled ube, ready to be eaten. But really, you can make it into anything--ube jam, flavoring, or eat it as it is.
We also bought fresh noodles. No preservatives added so we need to cook this almost immediately.
This is all for now and hope you enjoyed a little bit of the Philippines in this week's #MarketFriday by the lovely .
Thank you for dropping by,
Ging
