Among thing worthy to be celebrated in life is marriage and so on. The believed of general public on marriage is important to everyone because of the connection role it play and kept different background or ethnicity in unity since what it triggered are love, respect, tolerance etc.
Before solemnisation or unionism can occur which is refered to as marriage there are procedure involved before marriage such are friendship, love, and courtship. These procedures mentioned above are what fast track marriage. Starting from friendship developing to love and the courtship start till the man propose and the marriage rite start.

But when we are discussing marriage rite, these are the believed, norms, Custom, tradition and ways of engaging a lady and man in marriage. In Yoruba land there is way of handling marriage proposal. Before solemnisation can take place these three marriage rite must be fully observe.
They are namely bellow;
Introduction (Yoruba translation: ifinihan)
Engagement (Yoruba translation: Idana )
Marriage. (Yoruba translation: isodi okan)
Introduction as it sound is gathering of families to have discussion on family issues. This is just to familiarised themselves and this mark the process of marriage rite. Sometime it happens that date of engagement could be choosed there.
Engagement is the bedrock of any marriage in Yoruba land because once is done this give assurance to the bride family that you are a complete man on your own. This comprised of payment of dowry, bride property (such as clothing, eating, etc) and other monetary aspect of it.
The third which is marriage is a solemnisation of bride and groom in the church, mosque or court. This seal off the marriage rite and make it a legal marriage.
