I've been involved with The Mars Society since its creation 20 years ago.
I set up the Australian Chapter and organised an Australian tour by Dr Robert Zubrin in the late 1990s.
Now Elon Musk has taken up The Mars Society's ideas, developed them and put real money and engineering behind the endeavour to settle the Red Planet.
This is a very exciting time!
With cost effective, large capacity transport to Mars looking like a real possibility, its time to work on the reality of building human settlements on Mars.
