A while back, I set up my first few masternodes, and it was one of the best decisions I could have made at the time. This was in the pre-masternode exploitation days, however, and they are now becoming somewhat synonymous with get-rich-quick schemes boosted off of the X11 algorithm.
But not all.
There are still a number of these I would grab at the current time just given the fact that we are at the base of a market dip and (pretty much all of them) are trading at a relative discount.
For those of you just joining us, masternodes are yet another way to earn passive income. One of the better "101" explanations I have seen for them is found here: http://dashmasternode.org/what-is-a-masternode/
Like anything else, you are investing in an ecosystem. If the project in and of itself appears to serve one purpose (*cough *cough money grab) then you are likely to be breathing burnt rubber at the end of the day.
The spreadsheet is credited to https://twitter.com/jimtalksdata?lang=en
It aggregates a series of live masternodes served by a number of online services, such as http://masternodes.online, as well as standard block explorers to piece together the data.
I hope you found it as useful as I have, and enjoy!
