Warning! cuteness overload!!
They are just over 4 weeks old and eating wet kibble. Almost weaned. And go potty on paper!
They are growing so fast!
My love of mastiffs runs deep!
Almost 30 years ago, I got my first mastiff Seymour. He was so beautiful. My kids were young, and he truly was a gentle giant, he was their lounge pillow!
Soon after we got Seymour, I started to show him in ckc dog shows, and he quickly became championed. I was hooked.
I cannot imagine another breed for me.
They are considered guardians not attack dogs.
They are protectors by nature. It had been said that they will let you in, it's the leaving that's non negotiable.
I have seen that first hand. I fella came here on a quad, unexpected, and visibly intoxicated. Koda circled the quad... let the man speak his piece, but everytime he went to get off the quad, Koda growled at his feet. And when the man left, after being told he was not welcome, Koda chased him to the property line. Escorted him off the property.
He has taken on bears for us. And won.
Koda is small for a mastiff male. He is about 160 pounds. We had a mastiff named Chief that weighed in at 195 pounds.
English mastiffs were originally bred as castle guards and guardians of the children.
They are a working dog, and are excellent for carting.
Because mastiffs grow so quickly, it is important to not let them get chunky, and limit strenuous exercise until after they are 2. To promote excellent joint health.
Ok.. enough talking.. here are the babies now!
