Hiking through the Crater: Maui

Last weekend my friends Hive account@mattandcristina invited me to go on an epic adventure. We were going to hike through the Kaupo Gap! I was hesitant to go as the last time I attempted resulted in hours of being lost and retracing steps in thick and irritable bushlands. However this time I knew I would be with a very experienced guide who knew the trail well.

What an extraordinary hike it turned out to be! Much of the thick vegetation I had previously had trouble with had been cleared by ranchers. This allowed us navigate our way past the dense forest in good time.

However it still took over 7.5 hours! We were all thirsty and exhausted yet totally exhilarated. This is another hike I highly recommend. Traversing through rainforest and nearby waterfalls to crossing the arid desert, void of shade.
