If you are looking for a good quality medical education abroad, MBBS in the Philippines may be an option. However, you should think twice before making the decision to study MBBS in Philippines.
The biggest hurdle for an enthusiast is that you will never be allowed directly into an MBBS program in the Philippines. You are enrolled in a BS program and then you have to take a rigorous competitive exam called NMAT. Joining an MBBS program in the Philippines will only happen if you choose to perform at NMAT very well. The task is as high as the government getting MBBS space through NEET.
Moreover, the world ranking of Philippine medical universities available is very low compared to European and other Asian universities. Another factor that can motivate you to choose the Philippines is that most available universities are private.
Apart from being personal, these universities also have no experience as they have come into practice in recent times. If this is not enough, you will have to study with students who do not excel academically, because these universities allow even those with a score below 40 percent in the NMAT. If you want to understand this in terms of the NEET-UG parameter in India, Philippine medical universities accept students who get less than 7 lakh marks.
One fact that draws large numbers of foreign students to the Philippines is that the cost of pursuing an MBBS is very affordable. On average, you only have to pay Rs 15 lakh- 25 lakh to pursue MBBS in the Philippines 2021. But this is not so. Admission to the MD program does not take place directly, and most advisers are well aware of how to avoid revealing this to you. Another catch is that the quality of medical education varies from university to university and is not as good as the MBBS in Russia and the MBBS in Ukraine.
Speaking of MBBS duration in Philippines, it is 6 years. The past 1 year has been dedicated to internships and practical exposure as in most countries abroad. Apart from this, when you apply for admission to medical universities in the Philippines, you may face many unexpected obstacles as the admission process is not easy.
Although Philippine MBBS fees for Indian students are cheap and a substantial option, the quality of education cannot be compared to other countries like Ukraine and Russia. At a lower fee, you may have even better options, than MBBS in Philippines.
Also, you should know that an MD degree in Philippines is equivalent to a bachelor’s degree, so do not confuse it with BG in India. Again, most education counselors will not tell you this. B.S. RMC Education makes it clear that joining the program does not mean you have to be a doctor, instead, it is a pre-medical program leading to BS.
Below are some reasons why you should be careful before choosing a medical course from MBBS in the Philippines:
- There are some places that are very expensive in the eyes of students. For example Magadi City, Quezon City, Basic City, Manila City, etc.
- It is a fact that not all hotels in the Philippines produce healthy food.
- Being unhealthy on a healthy diet can put your health at risk.
- It rains frequently from June to November
- The Philippines is an island nation, which clearly shows the chances of a hurricane.
- There are enough nightclubs and such exposure to nightlife may hinder the study of medical enthusiasts.
- Usually, many students experience a patient encounter at a later stage, which may not be the best symptom in terms of practical expression.
Therefore, RMC Education does not recommend going to MBBS in the Philippines because if you consider this as an option, the primary problem is that you may have to undergo pre-medical study. The next issue is that you have to appear for the NMAT so that every system of admission and FYI is followed by every WHO accredited medical college in the Philippines for Indian students. This NMAT exam is not applicable to the 30% of students enrolled in higher medical colleges in the Philippines. Other than that, if you even appear for NMAT and happen to destroy it, you still can’t get a place for MD in the same medical college. Landing in the syllabus area is very different compared to other countries and you can find a big difference in getting an MBBS qualification in the Philippines.
