We know more about what’s going on millions of light years away from our planet than what’s going on right here, in our own heads.
DEPRESSION EVER AFTER
One day you wake up, you are ready for life, you think you can conquer the world. You don’t sleep, you feel high, full of energy, you start to dream and have unrealistic expectations for yourself and your life.
Then one day, like a bowling ball to the face; you crash. You crash so hard that you start losing your sanity. Everything becomes a burden; every minute it gets worse, your anxiety is crippling through the walls and you get mad and nervous for every little thing. You feel worthless, vulnerable, useless, weak, powerless, a waste of space, name it. You eat in excess or not at all, you sleep too much or too little, youre losing the only thing that kept you alive for a while: hope. You lost yourself, your friends, your lover, your dreams. Whats the point of living anyway if I lost it all? You might even succeed in taking your own life.
THE STIGMA
The way people approach mental illness is the opposite of compassion.
We feel what they feel too and relate to the ones who are suffering from mental health issues when it shouldnt be the case.
“Oh I get sad sometimes too, but I get over it. Why can’t you? What is wrong with you? Youre probably fucked in the brain or too dramatic.“
“You hear voices in your head? I get irrational thoughts too. Why cant you simply ignore them eh?“
“Youre starving yourself? Me too. I fasted this morning.“
Everyday I try my best to avoid the stigma, to dismiss the ignorance and to find understanding. It is there, somewhere. It’s indeed hard to find compassionate, kind and sensitive people these days but they do exist.
We are hurting now, but one day, we will heal.
We are Survivors.
More than that..
We are Victors.
Shout out to all the other people who live with a mental illness every day, you kick ass, stray strong!
If there is anyone of you out there who is struggling with mental health issues, i am there for you and feel free to reach out to me at anytime. I won't judge you, sometimes it's nice to talk to people who get it and have a bit of life experience behind them. Dont forget that you are never alone. Keep your head up. There will be good days and there will be bad days, that is how life goes. Nothing lasts forever.
Take care everybody and thank you!
