Healthy nutrition is important to reduce the risk of many chronic diseases.
A Qatari study recommended that a training program be prepared by doctors and nutritionists to educate the community about the complications of chronic diseases and their relationship to nutrition.
The field study was conducted by the Center for the Empowerment and Care of the Elderly (“Ihsan”) under the title “The impact of dietary habits on the health of older people in the Qatari society” and was concerned with nutrition of the elderly.
It also recommended the preparation of awareness programs for the elderly to be broadcast through various media and communication channels, and to provide hospitals and health centers to be displayed in patient waiting area.
The study discussed the importance of providing a sufficient number of qualified and trained nutrition specialists in centers of care for the elderly and health centers, and establishing a database that includes organic diseases, age and some primary data for the elderly, so that specialists can give the appropriate diet.
