On Saturday the 6th of January 2018, I was privileged to meet up and discuss with Steemians and New bees within my Community. I am really glad that Steemit is not just promoting Crypto-currency but also bring about a platform for people (steemians) to build their community online and offline.

I happened to be on the Uyo Community Whatsapp group when made an announcement that she was willing to meet up with five new bees in the community to mentor and train them on how to use this platform correctly. There have been misconceptions that Steemit is all about the money and rewards involved and therefore new bees tend to come in with the sole aim of making money than build a following, engaging or being part of a community and the Steemit world at large. Since most of these new bees are money-thirsty, some tend not to follow the community rules and while some other find difficulties navigating the website. Too often, this gets new bees frustrated.
I have only been on steemit for about a week but I had been giving listening ears to those people ( and
) that mentored me before a became a full-time member here, so I had some basic understanding of how I was supposed to operate here.
The meeting started at around 2pm at MummyJ restaurant but I couldn’t make it that time since I was busy with some family functions. When I finally got to the venue, I was really shocked to have met more than 5 steemians at the meet-up despite the fact that requested for just 5 people. I guess many people; even the whales in the community don’t mind learning more and more about steemit it LOL

I met talking about
and how
was rewarding original authors and content curators with rewards. I really learnt a lot from him before he left the venue for another function and yes did I get a handshake from him. Too bad I have no picture of that moment LOL
@Vheobong continued the meet up by mentoring us on topics such as wallet, blog, tags, upvotes, bandwidth, steem power, spamming, plagiarism, engagement, curation rewards, content creation and some other vital topics within the steemit platform.
I must say that is doing a great job of passing her knowledge of steemit down to the newer generation of steemians in our community with her “MitUp5” series. She has been an active member of the Uyo and Nigerian steemit communities and has selflessly offered herself to be available for steemians who still need mentorship about the platform. I wish to be like
soon and she gave us a five weeks target to host our own “MitUp5” meet ups and introduce our friends to come to steemit and build a better online community.
Lastly, it was really fun to have met over ten amazing steemians even though I can only remember these ones for now;
. You guys were amazing

Hope we could do this once again. I am proud to be in a loving and growing community. How is your Community? Let’s discuss
