Ask not what you can do for your college, but what your college can do for you…
I’m currently enrolled in a college in the South Florida area. Is it just me or do the educational systems
here just completely eat dirt? Maybe it’s just my college.
Who knows?

Here, all these classes aimed towards Information Technology seem to be nothing more than self-study and power point presentations. I’m sorry, but I pay good money to have someone teach me things that they are
supposed to be knowledgeable of. Not just reading from a recycled script... And it’s not always the fault
of the professor, sometimes they are asked [coerced] into teaching classes they have no real experience
in. What use is that to the student who is expecting to learn from whom is supposed to be a
professional? I can’t stand the impudence of higher ups who just want to cash out on the future
generations education.

With the need for a Bachelor’s degree in almost every position worth its weight in wages and medical,
we are forced to seek that gold seal of approval. And although I find myself agreeing that from a
business perspective, you need to have some form of liability that those people you employee have had
the necessary education and proof thereof, I think that sometimes it isn’t enough.
I find that in most cases I learn more from my own research, than I do from in class lectures.
I do want to note that there are some amazing educators out there! They may only be few and far
between but they have dedicated their lives to teaching students and for that I say THANK YOU.
