I love days like this, no wind at all and you go out on flat water and every movement you make is the only movement on the water.
It's so still and peaceful for hundreds of metres in every direction once you get away from the shore.
On a sunny day there would be more people out on the water, kayaking, rowing, swimming or boating, but on a cloudy day in fall or spring not so much. Gives you space and time to think and be present with it all. I miss kayaking and canoeing of all types. I miss my friends and the drives to the rivers and lakes, I miss the decisions you have to make on the rivers, the risks you are not sure if you should be taking but with enough safety support you take them anyway.
I miss the sense of achievement from it. I miss living for kayaking and being excited when it rains, so the rivers would be running.
I don't think I can get it back at least not in the same way as before. I'm older now and live far away from my friends so I have to make new kayaking friends, once covid is over.
