NOTE: This will be my last memorymonday post but I will still have plenty of other posts and will be looking at seeing what else I can add soon.
Royal Adelaide Show
As a kid and hearing the Royal Adelaide Show was starting soon you would get so much excitement and happiness, knowing you have all those rides, fun activities, fireworks, fairy floss, and most importantly… showbags!
Mad Mouse
A family favourite and full of craziness from the bunch of turns at a quicker pace to the fear of the cart going off the side (even though it never did), it never stopped any of my family going on, except mum as she didn’t like most rides.
Activities and sights
There were many things to see and do, you had the usual trying to win prizes at the game booths (like the ones you see in carnivals like off the movies), plenty of different animals to see, artwork/things created by people or companies offering specials on products, fireworks for the end of the night but that is not after getting the most important thing…
Showbags
“Mum, dad, how much are you spending on me this year” is a common thing so you could decide on what showbags to buy. I don’t think I ever bought the ones with all the toys in it, they didn’t interest me, it was the ones with all the candy/lollies and sometimes licorice. But they had so many different choices and things in them it would take some time to decide, if you didn’t before going there of course!
This was every kid there and even lots of adults
Memories
Going around everywhere, seeing everything, exploring really was a lot of fun as well as going on multiple different rides, generally not too many as multiple kids in the family meant limiting due to money.
One time I ended up getting sick for the show so my nanna needed to babysit me. I remember having to eat the green jelly baby lollies as they were meant to be the only ones I could have, hated those ones haha! So I remember being quite upset, disappointed, and mad that I couldn’t go but mum and dad at least brought back showbags for me and when I was better yay!
Thank you all for being around for my Memory Monday series and I wish I could remember a lot more, so I could have big enough posts for at least a few more weeks.*
