A moment of silence for the victims of this terrible disaster. Another moment to ponder this North American continent that we share. The disasters lately from the natural elements and forces should shake us into the realization that we are all in this together. What is the point of making one strong country that feeds off the resources of the rest of the world? What would be the point of erecting a giant scar that would stand as a testament to intolerance across our southern border. Can we really believe that any wall we build won't soon come crumbling down in infamy?
Isn't the real question why a country so "rich" as the U.S. has a neighbor that is poor, struggling, and practically begging for recognition. What is the economic system that fosters and continues the disparity? Plagued by drugs, corruption, and internal racial and regional divisions, is Mexico really so different from us or more our mirror. A system that is built on oppression, separation and exploitation won't last... history says clearly it never has. Take a look today at the disaster and the suffering and in your mercy tell me what you see?
... and what world we should all build together ...
