The event was supported by SC & ST , State Tourism & Government of Odisha Department. Objective of the event was to create awareness among people for tribal art and culture and this was the first one of its kind national level programme promoting tribal culture held successfully.
Pallavi Durua was crowned as the first "Tribal Queen" of India in a Tribal Queen Competition held at Utkal Mandap. She is from Koraput district (Odisha).
Panchami Majhi and Rashmirekha Hansdah were crowned with first and second runner up in the event respectively. The event witnessed many participants but only 20 contestants were promoted to the final round of the competition.
The trio will be featuring in a short film based on tribal culture soon.
