Since August last year, I’ve been serialising my stories on Steemit.
I’ve enjoyed the journey, there have been some up parts and a few down parts, as with every road trip.
Now it’s time to stop handing out my books for free. I’m a writer and I need to make a living. I had hoped to make that living on Steemit, but after 20 weeks, especially looking back at the past week’s payouts, I’ve come to the conclusion that’s not about to happen. I just don’t have the following of enough ‘big hitters’ to make every blog profitable.
I figured I’d need to make $25 for each blog on Steemit to make it work and as you can see, I’m falling very short of that.
No, I’m not ungrateful, but at some point, I have to become realistic. I’m not a freeloader, I want to help with our household bills etc and with the prospect of a new house very shortly (yeah, that’s the subject of another blog, soon), I have to divert my aims.
Do NOT despair though!
I’m NOT leaving. I’m NOT going to stop posting four times per day when time permits.
I AM, however, going back to writing. New stories, a continuation of my Wolf Series, more Dusty The Demon Hunter stories, finishing Daughters of Le Fay and sorting out, collecting my ideas, thoughts and concepts where Celtica Diamond is concerned and finishing at least one book for her.
I am also going to concentrate on curating for Steem-Trail, helping out newcomers to Steemit.
You see, I believe in Steemit as a blogging platform and as a business model, but this year is filled with the promise of massive changes for me (and ‘us’ as a family) and we have to make a lot of things work if they’re all going to end well. That means I have to pull my weight (and as you saw from my previous blog, I’m up on that too).
Off we go then, into the wide blue yonder!
New adventures await and I’ll be keeping Steemit up to date on them all!
