One thing is for sure in marriage you learn to what pushes each other’s buttons, what irritates the other person. This technique is honed after 33 years of marriage to the point I could give workshops. I know it sounds mean but it is all in fun, really.
Take this morning I woke up feeling powerful.
Remember this is all in fun.
My husband practices yoga every morning followed by push-ups. This routine has been his for many years. Me I watch or have some coffee, sometimes sleeping in. Soon I will be changing, as I do want to get more in shape.
Now for this morning’s button pushing fun. (Admit it you have done it before).
He is doing his morning push ups.
Honey shouldn’t your back be straight while doing those?
Silence.
Maybe you should do the girl push ups for a while.
Standing up he says, “Maybe you should shut up.”
I laugh for quite a while knowing it was all in fun feeling reassured the mechanism for Button Pushing is still in tact.
Pushing buttons still happens between us and after 33 years of marriage I like to write about it.
Please feel free to share any of your fun techniques, only NOT on me. 😀
BTW: I forgot my phone this morning and all I could think about at the time is getting home to it. I did not know I was so attached until this happened today. After all it is my lifeline and has GPS (I have no sense of direction), contacts, emergency information, and kindle books. Besides, what if my husband tries to phone me.
Your friend,
Rebecca
