Few days ago, I crossed the 500 SP mark and I’m now a minnow 😊. The very first ladder on the Steemit scale. It is a small achievement, but hey it is still something.

The recent price of steem helped with this. I both some amount of steem in the past week. I did the buying on two occasions, or in total around 360 SP. Also, I have earned some, and now I’m at around 780 SP.
Because of the price of steem at the moment this is now not as valuable as I would like it to be, and all of the others steemians. I simply look at this as a temporary thing. Steem already has communities, and a lot of the steemians are buying now. So maybe the the steem is just going it the right hands at the moment. That is not a bad thing.
Steem have different use cases, dapps etc. Its powers comes from the versatility it offers. I have made an analysis recently of the top 10 dapps on steemit. There is something for everyone. And this is just a part of it. There is more. There are @steemmonsters as well.
For those who don’t know the ranking goes like this:
- 0 to 500 SP – Redfish
- 500 to 5 000 – Minnow
- 5 000 to 50 000 – Dolphin
- 50 000 to 500 000 – Orca
- 500 000 and more - Whale

There is around 9 000 minnows and I’m a part of this group now. It is a big family :)
One of the other cool things you get when the 500 SP are passed is the voting slider. This is a slider integrated in the Steemit interface. There are other apps that allow you to do this but having it in the native environment is a plus. With it you can spread your vote to more accounts and support more people. Nice!
A month ago, I have set a goal for myself to acquire 250 SP per month. At the time I was around 300 SP. Now I’m at almost 800 SP. I have grown 500 SP in a month. Double that the goal set. And this is where my focus is. At the amount of SP. Not at the price of steem of the moment. Sooner or later things will settle down and come into place.
