Good morning, today i want to show you this flower i hardly know its name, but it is called in my local dialect "Ikong Mbara" which means leaves of Nails or Nail leaves.
So how did this flower which probably has a different english gain such a practical name.?
Well, years back when nail polish hardly reach my shores or where too costly, our native found a way to extrance some brownish yellow coloring out of the flower leaves by grounding and mixing it with Kerosine and then pasting the mixture on their nail for some minutes to stain their nails. This work till nail polish was cheap enough.
I took this picture right from my yard, do we then use it as nail polish? No.. We use it the proper way, as Flowers. Although to be sincere have tried to kill this more than once.
This plant has an ability of spreading far and wide. Thanks to its seed pods that explodes when riped and scaters seeds away from its plant. So trying to destroy it might take a bit of work as each pod contains upto 50 fertile seeds.
Im still trying to learn a lesson from this plant. Should we always spread our tentacles or should we have more than one use apart from coloring of nails.
Please, i need an english name for the plant and origin of plant and ill award the first correct answer with a token of 0.200 SBD and If you Resteem post ill award 0.30SBD to all resteem
Cheap i know, its just for fun.
