A New Kid
Have you ever been a new kid in a new environment such as a new neighborhood, a new school, a new job, or even a new country? Not only have I been there, but also have been there many times.
Being a new kid might cause someone feeling anxious or uncomfortable in the beginning. The sooner she or he can make new friends, even with just one, the earlier she or he is going to be at ease: having a great time while contributing to the new community.
This applies to the Steemit community, too!
Meet and Greets
Most new people spend a lot of time and effort writing their introduction post introducing themselves to the community and hope to be noticed. They reveal themselves, sometimes too much ;) to strangers, and are vulnerable. It means a lot to them when more people stop by their introduction posts welcoming them by commenting and by giving them a vote, no matter how small it is.
Common sense tells us that they are more likely to stay when they have new friends!!
Where They Are
I encourage you to meet and greet new people. You can find them at https://steemit.com/created/introduceyourself
Please say a few nice words to let them feel welcome and engage them. You never know you might even find your next best friends there!
Conclusion
Steemit is the most culturally diversified yet mostly unified community I have ever seen. Most people here are nice and kind. I have interacted with people from different parts of the world and learn their very different cultures. Different language is not even a barrier thanks to Google translate https://translate.google.com/ By the way, I am so thankful that I don't need to speak them :)
