Why do we torture ourselves day in and day out by comparing our lives with those of others. It's like comparing apples to oranges. Look at the Jones's, they have so much more money, with new cars and a boat. My classmates are better looking than I and they wear all the hottest clothes. The other moms have less stress, a better spouse, a bigger house, more obedient children... yada yada yada on into infinity!!! Enough, already! Stop it!!
Today I read a couple of articles which inspired me to write this little post on comparing ourselves to others. I am actually writing to publish under the #minnowsupport tag, as I feel that it's that important for all of us minnows to understand.
First I read a post by in which he said he never compares himself to any other person on Steemit. He measures his success only against his own successes from the previous day. What a fantastic way to approach our progress on the platform. He gives some sweet tips on speeding up your writing. The article is well worth reading and you can find it here:
The second article I read today that spoke to me comes from , and I'm here to tell you, minnows especially, to go and read the damned article! It really is important information and the points made are way too numerous to note, not to mention it's just a kickass read. The link to that post is here:
The takeaway from both of these posts is to let yourself grow organically, into a dolphin and then a whale. Don't beat yourself up about not measuring up to other users, and don't begrudge others their hard work. They have earned their spot and you must earn yours as well.
When you are judging your own progress and success on Steemit, you will be infinitely more satisfied comparing apples to apples.
Have a great day!!
