So what is perspective, and how does it pertain to life? I have discovered recently that perspective like the saying hind sight is twenty twenty! When you have perspective you understand the results of a decision you made. I had no idea the amount of issues I would create by quitting my job when I did. Oh it felt like I had made the best choice that day, and even into the weekend. It is now one month later and I am regretting that one decision, that one moment in time when I had a choice to make and I chose wrong.
I was not going to be able to work for the company for much longer anyway, but I would of at least had a months extra of wages to help with all the expenses. I feel guilty about the mess I have created, it is a constant knife in the side the guilt is. To think I was so proud to be free from that job, I was on top of the world and could do anything.
This is perspective, the ability to look at your current situation and realize that it sucks worse then what I was doing. It also works in reverse as well, to look back and see how bad things were compared to how they are currently. Both sides of the same coin, so to speak. Perspective is cyclic by nature, at any given point in ones life they are on one side of the coin or the other. Every day people are moving to one side of the spectrum, on one side you have it where life feels like it is at its worse, and on the other side life feels like it is at its best. Each decision you make leads you down a path,,,
- The right choices leads to to the apex of perspective where life feels good.
- The wrong choices leads to the apex of perspective where life feels bad.
- If you save this chart to your computer, it will be easier to read. It will open up in paint.
You can see from the chart that over a 16 year period, good and bad choices are made. The strange thing about making a decision is your frame of mind, often time when one makes a decision with a winning or positive frame of mind they tend to keep making good choices. The opposite could be said from a losing or negative frame of mind, if you are frustrated from making bad choices and stay in that mind set you are more likely to make another bad choice. This is why things seem to get even worse after you make a bad decision or better after you make a good decision, they happen in series. Now there is quite a bit more to all of this, the factors in decision making are always changing and infinite in amount. For example you could be in the best mood you have ever been in, and then something tragic could happen that sends your mind into negative, confusion land. This is why when a family member or loved one dies, a person that was not as connected to the person that died handles the arrangements. Not all of the time but allot of the time. Your mind is not capable of making clear decisions, and you could make a very bad choice.
There are many more examples of this both negative and positive, but I think you all get the point. All of the little choices/decisions we make in our lives add up to what is called the perspective. You really can not have a perspective without the passage of time, and the choices you made within that time. You can see someone else's perspective if they tell there story, or if you read a book about a persons life. Your own perspective has to be lived, and if you pay attention to it you can learn quite allot about yourself from it.
I once said many many years ago that the only thing that is constant in this world is change. I was thinking on the topic of change it self, and how many people say everything changes. If everything changes then that has to be the only thing that is constant or consistent. Then that lead me into thinking is there anything else that is constant, and I thought of death or the concept that everything must come to an end. If this is true, then that means that even reality must come to an end at some point. The understanding of this concept, in and of itself give a certain type of perspective. I like to call it the Grand Scale Perspective, or the larger picture of reality. It is good to think from time to time about the big picture, it helps to humble ones self to the reality that the universe in no way revolve around you, but your own reality is the only one you have.
In conclusion I would like to say to all of you that have read this, make the most of your reality. Use perspective both large and small to learn from your mistakes and humble yourself. Make decisions from a positive frame of mind, and if you can not do that ask question on the choices you are about to make. When you get to a place in your life that you are happy with, look at it appreciate it, don't take it for granted. If you find that you are no longer happy with that place, don't draw from the unhappiness but rather draw from the appreciation of getting to that point at least. This way you can move forward or upward in happiness, not backward or down in happiness. We all should strive to be better people from day to day, but don't forget the perspective. We are all working on the same goal,,,,TO BE HAPPY!
