They are starting to see that just like WWE, which I feel like they are emulating poorly, the fans just aren't all that interested in the new crew that is forced upon them and prefer the older fighters they have fond memories of. I think this is because UFC primarily throws so many people at us that we don't really have a chance to develop an affinity towards any of them. The matchup rigging and the fact that fighters have to fight several times a year to make any money results in the belts and who are the best changing so much that we can't really focus on any one person for very long.
Then, when they start to lose a bit, the industry turns their back on them. MVP could fill that void although I have to say that after watching that entire event that it was over pretty damn fast. Will there be another one? I guess that depends on how much Netflix is giving them.
That 17 second loss after Carano training for over a year was pathetic. You would think that she would have known that this is exactly what Rousey was going to do and be more prepared for it. Or maybe it really is that unstoppable. We'll likely never even know if Carano was any good or not.
