It is believed that bullying occurs in schools, at a young age, or only in those young people who due to their biological age, or in medical terms due to mental age, has not matured enough to be aware of bullying consequences. I am talking about the damage, not only physical but moral and psychological of the person who suffers it.
Recently many companies have stablished policies against mobbing and are creating awareness that this is a social problem that may ocurr at any age and place as it does not only occurs at a young age but also in adulthood. In fact, in many cases it also occurs to large extent in the work environment, and I am not refering to any physical bylling but verbal and phycological and intentional mobbing.
Speaking about this topic, a few days ago I saw a post from an old co-worker where the image shows "No to Bullying" and to be honest I did not understand the message as soon as I saw it because I never really thought that this could happen in a professional environment where people are supposed to act like concious adults dedicated to work and seeking each other for reaching the commom goals, objectives being protected and supported at the same time by work policies to assure a safety environment, however, this is not the case, mobbing does exist and it happens more frequent than we know regrettably. Intimidation of any kind, excessive pressure to meet common objectives, hiding information that is needed to carry out work activities, taking away tasks inherent to their position, not appreciating the effort that is made in the work that is carried out or the successes that are achieved, the lack of respect and exceeding the limits of trust and tolerance falls into the category of mobbing, for not mention that this can be also associated with discrimination based on ideologies, religion, beliefs, even nationality, culture, race, creed and much more further.
Reporting workplace bullying and limiting abuse means respect for the institution and ourselves. A work environment free of bullying, toxicity and mistreatment is a right as a worker, as a person and as individual who are part of a human, rational society, with values, principles and love for healthy freedom.
Reporting workplace mobbing is a right, an act of courage and self-respect. Do not remain silent, Speak up, Stop Mobbing, No to workplace bullying!!
