I started chasing X (twitter) at the beginning of February and I'm glad to announce that I've made significant progress.
First of all, I have achieved the 5M impression needed, and now need less than 200 verified followers to actually monetize my account.
I'm in no rush to get this, because I'm still accumulating enough engagement to make it possible to earn a first payout. I'm not in a rush, but I reckon that my the end of April, I'll earn my first payout.
April 25th to be precise. So before then I need to accumulate about 200 verified followers and keep working for more content engagement so I won't just the "below minimum" when the payouts are opened for everyone.
Struggles
My first week were terrible, I struggled with finding a proper niche, and I couldn't get an audience. I couldn't find the right people and it was really chaotic.
The second/third week was even worse, I had electricity issues and wasn't active for almost a week. The 4th week was better.
Progress
I worked towards achieving the 5M impression. Then I met a guy, joined a community, and people to actually help grow my numbers. It worked a little, not as much as I wanted but it was better than that first 3 weeks.
The 5th week was better. I got some better engagement rate, but I had to put in better. Towards the end of the 5th week, I complete my 5M impressions and got my first meaningful engagement that improved my engagement rate a lot.
I also had to work hard towards it and that's where I'm currently at. My engagement rate is at 0.7 and I need it to be at 1 to get a payment by April 25th, it improved from 0.6% which it was previous at, and this is because of 3 days work that I've put in.
Lessons learned..
It's quite simple but hard though. You need people/community with the same niche or mindset, also you need good content with excellent hook and graphics as well, and of course who are going to share your contents and help you scale it.
It's a lot of work.
I lost sleep time in the first 3 weeks, but I started finding balance. You'll probably need to put in 8 to 12 hours on a daily basis and it's always harder in the first 3 months. But in the 4 and 5th month, you'll start getting paid and you'll already have a recognized community that can help you build support.
I'm currently in my 2nd months and I can say it's not been bad, I've figured out and learned a few things along the way. That biggest advantage of this is every effort accumulates and the more effort you put in, the more advantage you have to earn good money.
Compounding efforts
This is possible from the 6th month to 1 year, depending on the effort you put in on a daily basis.
The income also gets to compound. Some folks who have spent 1 to 2 years earns 500$ to 1000$ on a monthly basis, and people who have spent up to 3 years earns over 2000$ on a monthly basis, which is really good, as long as you didn't violate platform rules.
It gets to a time, maybe by the second year, you don't need to put in a lot of effort anymore, because you've already done that in the first year. It's money that becomes very easy to earn with each day that passes by.
The downside is that it's very tasking at the beginning, I nearly gave it all up in the first week, but I continued anyway, and I can see some better results more than when I started. I even met a guy on who was previously on Hive, also trying to get monetized as well. We'll see how it goes.
