Money is important!
If you think about it, a big part of our life is spent at work and many of us just go to work because we need the money. Money impacts also our psychologic and physical health because of the equation :
no money = many problems.
So learning how to manage it better is a great skill you should master. There is a tool that greatly helps in this task : the kakebo.
Kakebo is the Japanese way of organizing things. If applied to the home finances it helps you in controlling better all the expenses. It is just like a budget book but simpler.
It helps in particular with managing the ins and outs of the cash flows that come in and out in your personal finances. For example your input is the salary you get at the begining of the month and the output is your rent and bills you have to pay at the end of the month .
By organizing these cash flows in categories you can know exactly how much do you spend for each one. After monitoring for a certain period these dynamics you can consider improving in one of those spending categories. The picture below shows the categories (Ok this is in Italian but you get the idea).
Then for each category you note the spending each day of the week as follows.
This is the best way for monitoring every spending type and finding useful insights.
The main reason why I find Kakebo useful is that nowadays we spend with different means such as credit cards pre-payment cards and now we are also experiencing cryptos. All this spending is difficult to monitor and that's why many people in particular Americans go bankrupt.
Kakebo advices instead to use cash so that you can monitor your spending better.
The monitoring of expenses will give you a better sense of control of your life. This in turn will spare you the stress and anxiety generated by the fact of not being able to save something every month.
Saving is also important as it gives you a financial stability that we need in order to plan the next holiday :-) but most importantly saving for investing.
I have been writing about investing here : Why you should never live your money in a bank and start investing it instead and here APPICS ICO ! There is still time to invest in it.
