There's no doubt Dan Larimer is a genius. Dan created Bitshares and was the CTO of Steem and Steemit up until early 2017, when he left to work on the EOS project and join Block.one. His loyalty to his projects is questionable, he's not involved with Bitshares or Steem any longer. Dan views his former projects as more or less experiments in learning as each one has taught him a great deal, which he brings to his next vision. He's an inventor and will likely invent many systems over the years, unlikely to stay put on one project, that's what inventors are like, lots of ideas. So it shouldn't be a surprise when he left Steem less than a year from its debut, but Ned Scott and Dan likely had a sour departure, at least that's what I gather from what I've
witnessed. Dan's been working on EOS for almost a full year now and it looks like he's not coming back to the Steem team in any form.
If you look at Dan's Steemit page he began powering down the remainder of his Steem power while selling Steem off daily.
Also, I wrote a post this morning about a tweet out of the EOS party claiming to be working on a social media network on top of EOS. Here's the link:https://steemit.com/money/@honeydew2002/larimer-strikes-back-eos-to-release-social-media-platform
