Well this is an interesting story coming out of California. The man sent his 16 year old son into a 7-11 to buy some tickets and one of them was a winner for $5 million big ones. However, since his son is only 16 (have to be 18 to play the lottery), the California Lottery Commission refuses to pay out the winnings.
So naturally, the man is suing the lottery commission and the gas station for negligence and I would probably do the same if I was denied $5 million dollars.
When it comes to a consumer vs. lottery commissions I am always on the consumer's side because the lottery industry makes a ton of money off of desperate people hoping to strike it rich. I don't, however, think the man will be successful in court because the rules are pretty clear. I will have to pay attention to this one.
