I stash graded Ben Frankiln Half Dollars - so should you! These are among the last 90% coins minted by the U.S. Mint. China is actively counterfeiting US Silver Eagles - you cannot tell the difference! Unless you own a magnet slide (vid on YouTube about that). Silver is about to skyrocket and this graded coin is the best value now and will bring the greatest premium. NGC is my personal preference however many prefer PCGS - these are the two biggest names in graded coins.
The reason I collect graded is because the coin is vacuum sealed in a protective, holographic 'slab' and certified as genuine. You can pick these up at online auction for well under $20 which is less than the cost of sending in yourself to be certified!
Mercury dimes are another highly recommended coin and also 90% silver - obviously more divisible and that's makes them attractive as well in a barter scenario.
