High income due to peak exam season, but also high expenditure due to paying for hotel and travel for SteemFest 4 as well as a new PC and some well overdue data security upgrades.
Stil, £300 in the black is all good, although I did invest £500 in crypto, mostly at the beginning of the month, so that will hopefully still be showing up positively in my wealth report next week!
Income
A very good income month, thanks mainly to my Revision Webinars!
- Total income = £3015
Comprised of
- £840 Webinars £840
- £1500 Resource sales
- £675 Teacher training
This is more than enough to compensate me for the slacker earning months I'll have in July and August, or at least it would be had I not spent so much this merry consumerist month of May!
Expenditure
An unusually heavy month this month, because of buying a plane ticket and hotel stay well in advance for SF4 AND a new P.C. and some data security devices, such as a Nano Ledger S and some seriously encrypted USB disks.
- Total expenditure = £2710
Comprised of:
- £1100 - regular outgoings (mortgage etc.)
- £595 - daily expenditure (see below)
- £1005 - unusual expenditure - SF4 and new PC/ security
My 'daily expenditure ' was O.K. this month
My regular outgoings have settled at £1700
I think I can sustain this, and am O.K. with this for another year or two.
NB I'm now including £100 a month as a contribution towards tax. This probably won't be enough to pay the bill at the end of the tax year, but it will mean less of a draw down on savings to pay it!
Although NB - note to self: I can do better, the goal is to cut this by at least a third by 2021!
The heavy expenditures
These were just necessary, and they'll pay for themselves:
My new PC is actually a cheap reconditioned one, just something to keep me at my desk working rather than in chillax posture on the sofa with my Macbook Air.
A desktop will also mean I don't need to carry around my Laptop with all my passwords auto stored on it - i can make this machine a sensitive password and active key free zone in the future, this'll help keep my Steem a little more secure too!
Paying for SF4 early has been the right move - I've got an absolute bargain on the flight and the hotel! But more of that laters maybe.
Conclusions
I need to be careful of not getting too complacent about my expenditure - I have been nowhere near as disciplined as I was back in 2015 when I started my ERE trip.
It doesn't help having earned so much money this month, or having some genuinely legitimate/ overdue things to spend money on.
In short, where expenditure is concerned: could do quite a lot better!
Where income is concerned, I'm very happy, the above excludes Steem earnings, or any returns on investment - all of this is quietly pumping up my early retirement savings nest egg.
I am in the mood for trying to earn a lot more passive income in the medium term. I'm going to have to sit down and think about what a realistic 'high' average monthly income is - maybe I can work to £3K average? Maybe that's not even 'high'?
Anyway, cheers for now!
