Having listened to and participated in the endless circle of 'debate' on the topic of capitalism vs non capitalism in the compassionate anarchy group on Facebook (for far too long), I think I have seen most arguments raised for and against capitalism. I really enjoyed this short video on the topic from 'thought slime' on youtube as it gets close to my position...
One of the main claims made by pro capitalists against what they call 'the left' is that 'the left' are 'entitled' and somehow want to take the fruits of other people's labour. In reality, however, I have yet to meet anyone who actually wants to do that - in general, most people are just seeking a greater balance in society, so that millions of people aren't starving, while a few live with wealth that is absurd (and usually doing nothing to improve the situation for others). Arguably, what is needed is for the majority of people to realise the problem and work together to overcome it - however, this requires them to settle their differences, have enough resources to live on a daily basis already and to not get caught up in thought prisons and traps such as state communism and other such 'fun' solutions to the human condition. Generally, the lack of resources and the resulting depression and disease is enough to stop most people.
In truth, 'the left' ACTUALLY refers to 'the left wing', which is a phrase from the French revolution which began when opponents to monarchism sat in the left wing of seats in parliament. So basically, 'left wing' means 'opposed to empire building and artificial hierarchy' and can include a wide array of people with different aims, thoughts and backgrounds. Generally, they have just had enough of being enslaved and are intent on making a difference (hence the guillotines). Unfortunately, we haven't collectively understood yet, on a deep level, the hows and whys of how we create our own enslavement and so we haven't fully solved the problems yet (and neither has France, despite the recent months of riots and protests there).
Anyway, in this video - we find an explanation of why it is really capitalism that is entitled:
