Last summer I drove the route between Knoxville TN and Boulder, CO three times! Once in a Nissan, once in a U-Haul (with a very heavy cat on my lap) and once in my Honda CRV. l am not sure at all which one of those times I took this photo. Since the only time I wasn't the driver was in the U-Haul, let's hope it's from that trip. The many miles I traveled either alone or with a family member are actually all sweet memories of the transition. Being on the road often feels more like 'home' than my actual home. But bridges. Bridges make my day. You can sense the history of this country just by crossing bridges that were built during different times. And you wonder what the cities on both sides had to make do with until the bridge came to change their lives. In some places the rivers look as important as the bridges. In others the rivers look like a very sad environmental tragedy. A particular love of mine became the older steel bridges painted that old fashioned light green. Of course, this being monochrome, you can't tell what color it is so you'll just have to take my word for it.
