Monochrome Monday Statues along the Mall In Central Park
This is a post for Monochrome Monday hosted by A challenge I try to join as often as I can, the other challenges he hosts are Sepia Saturday and Tree Tuesday, all fun challenges and worth checking out.
For this weeks post, I take us back into Central Park, to share some of the Statues along a walkway in the park called the Mall, the first one being of Robert Burns who was a Scottish poet and Lyricist in the 1700s

The next statute i will share is of Walter Scott, also Scottish and both in 17771, who was a historical novelist, poet, playwright and historian

And the next Statue is of Fitz-Green Halleck, and if you were expecting a pattern here and think he was also Scottish, you would be wrong, but if you though the pattern was that it was another poet you would be right, he was an Ameican poet born in 1790 and renowned for his satires.

And that all folks for photos, but since these statues were all poets, I will leave you with one of my favorite poems and one to think about by Warren Shire
they set my aunts house on fire
i cried the way women on tv do
folding at the middle
like a five pound note.
i called the boy who use to love me
tried to ‘okay’ my voice
i said hello
he said warsan, what’s wrong, what’s happened?
i’ve been praying,
and these are what my prayers look like;
dear god
i come from two countries
one is thirsty
the other is on fire
both need water.
later that night
i held an atlas in my lap
ran my fingers across the whole world
and whispered
where does it hurt?
it answered
everywhere
everywhere
everywhere.
