Buildings come in so many forms around the world,
and I am grateful to have seen many!
I thought I'd choose one to share that I took in India.
I especially love this picture as it is not only about the building, but the building of a building. Locally sources materials are used to construct these shelters. You don't see big cement trucks roll up or huge trailer loads of manufactured or processed wood. Much of the wood used here is reclaimed or hand-harvested, as is the basic structure on which they build.
It's always amazing to me how truly sustainable we could be in providing for our needs, yet most of us choose to deplete the earth's resources in the process. As my insightful friend says--"humans are like parasites..." I must say I would have to agree with that!
