و تنقسم تلك التكنولوجيا الى ثلاثة اجزاء أساسية، فالاول يتركب من تكنولوجيا ادخال بيانات مناسبة بالاعتماد على مستشعر اشعة تحت حمراء مثبتة في نظارته والتي ترصد ادق الحركات لخده، اما الجزء الثاني فيتضمن تكوين المفردات باستعمال البيانات الواردة من المستشعر الاشعة تحت الحمراء وذلك الجزء هو برنامج الكتروني عبارة عن برنامج لوحة مفاتيح تبدو على حاسب الي لوحي مثبت على ذراع الكرسي المتحرك ويعمل عن طريق بطارية الكرسي ذاتها، فمهمة ذلك الأخير انه يقوم بتحريك مؤشر كمؤشر الفأرة على الكيبورد في عملية مسح على مجريات عمودية او افقية على الشاشة، وعندما تبلغ إلى الكلمة المطلوبة يقوم هوكينج بايقاف المؤشر برعشة خفيفة من خده، كما يمكن اختيار احرف معينة بنفس الأسلوب لتشكل مفردات وجمل، كما يمكن ان يتحكم باوامر الويندوز بنفس الأسلوب، فهو بتلك الأسلوب لا يهُمُّ بكتابة المفردات و الجمل حرفا حرفا كما يظن الكثيرون،فلقد تم تضمين البرنامج بالعديد من الاوامر الاوتوماتيكية التي تتنبأ بالكلمات او الجمل التي يستخدمها هوكينج دائما كما يقوم البرنامج أيضاً باظهار الكلمة المطلوبة بعد علم اول حرف منها عدا على تصحيح الاخطاء الاملائية وكل الامور التي تسهل الامر وتوفر الوقت، اما الجزء الثالث هو الجزء الاسهل إلى حد ما وهو المختص في النطق لذلك الغاية يستعمل هوكينج مولد المفردات والتي تنطق الجمل المكتملة بلهجات معينة اختارها هوكينج بنفسه وطلب من الشركة ان تجعل الجهاز يتحدث بها وهي صوته الحقيقة وصوت قرينته وصوت ابنته، كما يتيح له الجهاز بالقيام بالعديد من المهمات بالاضافة إلى النطق مثل تحليل بريده الالكتروني وتصفح الانترنت واخذ بعض الملاحظات واستخدام السكايب للحديث مع اصدقاؤه.
