The memories from the day still leave me covered in shame despite the fact that the incident happened when I was in Junior secondary school.
We had gone out for break time and as I walked to the school bathroom with my friend he saw a note of #500 on the floor but was scared of picking it so I picked it. A couple of hours later my friend who saw the money initially had run into a group girls looking for their missing money and so he directed them to me. Greed did not allow me accept the fact that I picked the money so I denied.
The school principal tried to convince me into admitting to picking the money but wasn't going to take any of that. I finally admitted to picking the money when one of the teachers who happened to be my dad's friend pleaded with. The real embarrassment came when I was mercilessly flogged in front of my classmates and removed as the class prefect of my class. Surprisingly the whole class cried as I was being flogged.
Things we did as teenagers though.
