Calliteara pudibunda (Linnaeus, 1758)
Der Buchen-Streckfuß ist ein Nachtfalter aus der Familie der Eulenfalter (Noctuidae). Er ist dieses Jahr auch schon recht früh unterwegs. Das Weibchen legt seine Eier in einem Eispiegel von mehreren hundert Eiern auf die Blätter unterschiedlicher Laubbäume ab. Der Falter fliegt in einer Generation von Mitte April bis Juni in einer Generation. Man findet den Falter noch zahlreich und er ist in seinem Bestand derzeit nicht gefährdet.
The pale tussock is a moth from the family of Noctuidae. It is also quite early this year. The female lays her eggs in an ice mirror of several hundred eggs on the leaves of different deciduous trees. The moth flies in one generation from mid-April to June in one generation. The moth is still found in large numbers and its population is currently not endangered.

Wenn man den Falter betrachtet, vermutet man kaum, dass die Art als Raupe eine echte Schönheit ist. Mit farbenfroher Haartracht präsentiert sie sich als rote Variante oder auch in leuchtendem Gelb. Es ist immer wieder faszinierend welche ein Spektrum an Farben und Formen die Natur im Verlauf der Evolution entwickelt hat.
When you look at the moth, you hardly suspect that the species is a real beauty as a caterpillar. With colourful hair it presents itself as a red variant or also in bright yellow. It is always fascinating which spectrum of colours and shapes nature has developed in the course of evolution.
