I do not believe that only a few people have the ability to lead. Every human being has the potential to lead, which means everyone is a leader in one way or the other. The only reason why people have a limited view of leadership is because we define leadership in terms of occupying positions.
In most parts of the world where leadership is view as occupying positions, you realize that the citizens feel powerless and hopeless, they then have no choice but to say "Our leader did this or our leaders did that", When they say our leaders, they are referring to those who occupy seats and positions neglecting the fact that everyone is a leader. How many people will be opportune to occupy a seat, how many people can be presidents? Only a few but we all are leaders in one way or the other.
Leadership is the ability to influence people to achieve goals with you. leadership is getting people to cooperate with you to achieve goals.
There is something I believe in which is "Two people will achieve more than four times one person will achieve"
The slave mentality is one thing that disturbs me a lot in most developing countries. The view of seeing leadership as occupying seats and positions has placed us as slaves. The skills and the kind of work needed to succeed as a slave is entirely different from the skills and works needed to succeed as a free person or leader. Leadership skills are needed to succeed as a leader.
Slaves are entitled to free and poor things and that is what most people in underdeveloped and developing countries expect. The is some of the poorest countries in the world are countries where people expect the government to do everything for them.
Leadership simply means influence and not ruling. Leadership is not politics. Some of the greatest leaders in the world are not politicians, it is based on influence.
You can lead.... If I can lead, then you can.
