Deep down, people want to do a good job, to have a sense that they are effective. The vision cast a picture of what that looks like. It provide a visual, mental measure by which we can evaluate how well we are doing as individuals and organizations.
Without a vision, we might be okay with adequate effort, but when we have a vision we find ourselves pushing towards excellence because the result matters. Having non-strategic vision as obtainable in most of the small scale businesses and our daily lives has driven our focus wrongly. We rather think of immediate gains and profit hence we loose focus, deter the future causing the life-cycle of our business to be cut short.
