In a world where utmost attention is given to the educated and the Illiterates -irrespective of their usefulness or what they have to offer- sidelined and left to waste away, certificates are overly glorified and formal education is purported to have the only gatepass to societal relevancy. This preconception is however, not entirely true as there are poorly educated people who have the been very successful and literates who are conversely unproductive.
Formal Education is meant to feed people with the compilation of the products of the hardwork of intellectuals so as to complement one's natural productivity and increase knowledge. When it meets intelligence, the by-product is remarkable. But when it is thrust into a mindless retard, the resulting effect is a colourful display of certificates.
Williams Shakespeare's vague record of formal education implies he was poorly educated. He later went on to become the greatest English writer and world's most pre-eminent dramatist, consequently transcending above most writers, both past and present who went through formal education. People who view formal education as the sole gateway to success are mostly those who later wallow in the pool of mediocrity. There are 1001 learned people who are only living to admire the beauty of their credentials, lying in wait for companies to aknowledge their certificates- with their thinking caps in the other room.
Lack of formal education is not enough to confine an intellectual to the average world. Nor is its presence enough to catapult the simple-minded to climax. It is not a yardstick for measuring intelligence. Anyone can be educated but not everyone can be formally educated. Anyone can be formally educated but not everyone is intelligent. Anyone can be intelligent but not everyone can be formally educated. Anyone can be intelligent but not everyone is willing to harness the intelligence through self-development to unlock and maximize potentials. The few who are able to acquire knowledge-formally or informally- and subsequently put the skills to good use are the intellectuals. Be one !
