I promised to share the story of Rebecca in a better light and this is it. The text I would be using would be in Genesis, chapter 28.
It is good for ladies to always be peaceful at heart. Never forget that most people that lash out at others have an internal war they are fighting. They have a lot going on inside and this is why it is hard to judge anyone based on one moment. I have seen a lot of ladies lash out and you begin to wonder, *”Over this?” You sometimes can’t connect their reaction to the deed but the point is they are dealing with a lot of stuff on the inside. I won’t go into details as to Abraham’s prayers before the servant embarked on his journey, but I will focus on Rebecca’s behaviour which should be a model, especially in this era where most ladies are forgetting what it means to show courtesy and respect, regardless.
The servant prayed and asked the lady that would be suitable for his master’s son to not only give him a drink but should also give to his camels. This head of servants actually came with 10 camels. A camel takes close to 200 litres and with 10 camels; we are talking about 2,000 litres. What kind of lady would be ready to fetch 2,000 litres for a complete stranger and even leave her own water just to attend to this man? I will tell you, a humble and patient lady. It is such a rare trait.
It was said that if you want to move fast, you have to travel light. She could have lashed out at the servant, she could have insulted him but no, she not only gives water to him; without knowing who he was, and she also gave the camels.
I can imagine how ladies of nowadays would naturally react to someone that is not even their taste. You need to allow peace reign in your heart so you won’t have to lash out on your potential helpers. Behaviour is different from attitude. You need to work on your behaviour and not only focused on what you want people to see or know about you.
