No matter the level of efforts you put into the wrong place, it will not yield any good results. More often than not, it is not about being busy nor is it about working hard, but it is about doing it rightly. You can be doing something and even think you are putting efforts, but it is the result that will prove the efforts right. This is why you have to focus your efforts on doing the right thing, so that your efforts will be productive. By doing the right thing, you have already positioned yourself to get the required result. Choose wisely what you do, with the result in mind, not just about being busy.

A friend of mine once shared her experience with me. A few years back, she was randomly applying for jobs because she just wanted to be leaving the house in the morning, because she was tired of staying at home, and of course to earn money. But she was constantly being rejected. After a while of applying and rejection, she decided to learn a particular skill and then focus her application on that field. So she learnt graphic designing with tools like canva, photoshop, etc. When she was done, she started applying for design-related roles. In just about 3 weeks of applying, she got her first placement. Her efforts finally payed off because they were channelled properly.
In more cases than none, success is not about how hard you work, even though hard work is important, but much more than that, it also about how and where you channel your efforts. You will be surprised how a lot of people are busy, constantly moving, going up and down, doing something, yet with little or nothing to show for it. The problem is not laziness, rather it is about misdirection. Imagine someone driving over a roundabout for 30 minutes. It is true that the person is making moves, busy, and even doing work, yet at the end, no progress is made. In life, how you do something, when you do it, and even where you do it, is very important for you to see the kind of result that you need.
Investing your energy, time, and skill into the wrong place can be one of the most frustrating things that anyone can ever experience. Imagine pouring water inside a basket, there is no amount you pour into it that will make it to full. This is exactly what happens when you put efforts wrongly. Having efforts without direction can easily lead one to frustration.
In order to prevent wasting your efforts, there are things that you need to observe and do. Firstly, you should not stay in an environment that does not support your growth. If you are surrounded by negativities, or by the people who always discourage your dreams, it may make your efforts to look heavy and unrewarding. This is just like planting a seed on top of a rock or on dry ground, no matter how you water it, and the amount of work you put into it, it will not produce good result. There may not be anything wrong with the seed itself, but with the environment it is planted. But when the seed is planted in a good soil, every effort you put into it becomes positive. In life always try to channel your efforts towards the right thing, so that it will yield good results.

Another thing you need to know is that you should not try to please everyone. Do not live your life based on the expectations from other people. If you constantly expect approval from people, you will stretch yourself to the point that you will become thin, and doing the things that do not lead to your growth. Instead, learn to focus your energy on what truly matters, that will ultimately lead to your growth. When putting efforts, you have to put your purpose in mind, then consider long-term, and also the value in it for you.
Channelling your efforts properly without wasting it also means that you should know when to stop. Even though opportunities are good, but not every opportunity is worth your time and effort. Not every battle is worth your strength to fight. There are times that the best move to make is to walk away, and by that, you will redirect your energy towards what matters.
