That quote was one of the quotes that helped me to acquire skills that are relevant to my world. That quote doesn't mean everybody must like you, it means anyone who is in his right senses and likes valuable things will like you.
In your life, you need to try not to become a student with success story, rather become a student of value with success story.
A student with success story is one who has never failed or hardly fails in class. He's always top in class with good grades.
The student with value and success story is that student who decides to learn little of every other valuable thing that is good for man kind other than what he was taught in class.
The most inspiring question I was asked in the university was
if you have two students in a class. One is studying hard every day, spending time in the library so he could graduate and work in XYZ company. The other student is studying so hard so he could graduate and buy up XYZ company do you think they'll be studying the same thing?
Obviously they won't be studying the same thing, even though they are in the same class. The guy who's studying so hard to work in XYZ company will do well in class because that is what the current educational system trains us for, while The other guy might not really do well in class because he's studying to buy up XYZ company and that will need him to learn lot of things that can't taught in the classroom.

These are some of the top advice I got when I was in school, but I don't think they are good enough.
keep your job and mind your business
If you have a job, you should have your own dreams and business (alternative sources of income) too, in case something happens to your job. Keep doing your job, but mind your business that gives you residual income.
Not everyone is supposed to be a CEO, but you can be a CEO in your department, you can be so good in that department that the company cannot do without you.
But what really is the purpose of going to school ? Are you going to School so you can Qualify to get a job?
School have never been the true test for knowledge,you get education from school and education helps you think intensively and critically.
An educated man is not that man who got the best results from school, An educated man is that man who has mastered the use of his TIME and MIND.
In school you wake up early to attend lectures. At first it won't be easy to meet-up your 7am lectures because you weren't used to it , but as time went on, you became used to it. (time management achieved).
Impromptu test, general test and exams trained your mind to store information, refine them and express them (training of the mind) when needed.
All these activities helps you master the art of TIME MANAGEMENT and MIND MANAGEMENT
In school you're taught a lesson and then given a test to test what you've been taught. In life you're tested first (impromptu) and that test teaches you a lesson.
How to become that guy that will buy up XYZ company
1. Invest in yourself:
Unfortunately when young people say they are investing in themselves, they mean buying new clothes and shoes.
That could be called an investment because your appearance matters.Your appearance can get you the job or contract, but your appearance cannot keep the job if someone else comes with a good appearance too and with better things (skills) to offer than you do , you'll lose your job soon.
Your value doesn't come from the designers you wear, your value is your worth when all you have is taken away from you (Your value is inside).
The greatest investment anyone can can make is in the acquiring of knowledge (skills) , go for knowledge first. With accurate knowledge, you'll be able to multiply whatever you have now.

2. Get better at the things you do
Do you know the future doesn't belong to those who know how to build applications alone? The future belongs to those who knows how to build decentralized applications. The future belongs to those who seek to continually update their skills.
Very soon, companies will be looking for people with knowledge about cryptocurrency and blockchain, or better still you'll soon have your own company that will need the skills of those who have experience with crytocurrency and blockchain . If you don't start now to increase your knowledge in what you do and what is happening in the world, you'll soon be behind schedule.
3. Manage your time
Not all skills are required, you can learn lots of skills, but be very good at one. Choose a skill that will help you achieve your dreams and allocate more time to it. (jack of all trades, master of none).
You can't spend your time watching football if you're not a footballer, except it's your free time. Allocate more time to building your skills and soon you'll be so good to the point that people cannot do without.
