There are unique abilities that everyone has. No matter what you think of anyone, there is no one that does not have what to offer to the world. However, you have to know and discover yourself before you can function properly in the area of which you are gifted in. Here, I will give a few tips that will point you to the right direction in discovering yourself.

First of all, there is something that you will definitely find very easy to do even if you do not practise or rehearse it. This could be a pointer. While growing up as a kid, I had a friend that was so gifted with a good sense of humour. Each time he makes a comment, it will send people around him laughing out loud. He does that so effortlessly that he does not need to rehearse what to say for him to sound humorous.
Little did he know that he will function very well as a professional comedian. When he gained admission into college, there was a time that his faculty had an end-of-year party and he was nominated to host the party. The party saw the attendance of dignitaries from many fields of life, who are the old boys of the school. He performed so excellently and humorously that from there, he got invitations to host other events. This was how he discovered his talent and at the moment, he is now a celebrated comedian even though he is a computer engineer by training.
You see, he discovered what he could do effortlessly and that was where his talent was. Sometimes, it may not be what you studied in school that will be the area that you are gifted in. You will be surprised that some world-renowned footballers are college graduates and some with masters degree, but they chose football because it is where they are talented in.
Furthermore, another way to discover your talents is through the sincere and honest opinion of others. There may be something that you are doing so well but you may not have noticed it. However, someone around you may have noticed it and their honest opinion may point you towards the right direction. If everyone around you is pointing to a particular gift that you have, then there may be truth in it and you should look into it.
While growing up, in the neighbourhood that I grew up, there was this kid that was fascinated about playing street soccer. He would play anything he sees: from tin of milk, to empty containers, just anything at all. At a point, people around the neighbourhood nicknamed him "street Pele" (after the legendary football - Pele). Each time he engaged you in discussion, the major part of the discussion will be centered around football.

At that point, people started advising him to consider going into professional football. After he finished from high school, with the help of one of the patrons of the neighbourhood, he got into one of the local football academies. There, he proved himself excellently well and he was absorbed into the starting-11. Now, he plays for the national team and he is doing very well. All these were because he cared to listen to the honest opinion of the people that advised him. You see, you should be able to pick out something worthwhile from the opinion of others.
