A lot of people have dreams of what to achieve or what to become but the truth is that all these will come at a price and the price to see dreams come to reality is "action." Without putting action, the dreams will just remain in the mind as intentions. Of course, intentions must be backed up by actions for the results to be achieved. This is just like someone that wants to achieve a built-up muscle but feels reluctant going to the gym or working out, he will not achieve the desired result. When actions meet dreams, then results will be birthed.

In taking actions towards the line of your dreams, you have to understand that right action is what counts. You do not just throw actions anyway and anywhere you like and expect the desired result. Actions must be in line with your dream for it to be relevant. Even in physics, force has to be relevant for it to effect a positive change. Imagine trying to get a car to move forward but instead of applying the force and pushing it forward, you are pushing it from the side, will you achieve the desired result?
There are actions and there are relevant actions. You do not act just because you want to act or because you feel like acting, but because you need to undertake a right action. Imagine a student preparing for a Spanish language examination and he is preparing with a French textbook. It is true that he is reading his book, which is also part of taking actions but he is not taking the right action. In the same way, your action must be taken in the line of your dream for it to count.
After you have considered the fact that you need to take the right action for your dreams to be actualized, you should also realise that dreams can also be time-bound. That is, they can be affected negatively or even rendered invalid by the passage of time. This is why, even though you are to take the right actions towards your dream, you should do it timely. The truth is that, sometimes, timing can ultimately determine which action is right or wrong.
If your dream is to become a professional footballer for example, but you have waited until your 40's before applying to a football academy, what do you think will happen? Obviously, the application will not be honoured because by that age, you should be planning on retiring from playing professional football, not applying to enroll. So you see, passage of time has defeated that dream. Nothing defeats dreams like procrastination. What you need to do today, why will you leave it till tomorrow? This reminds me of the popular quote:
Strike the metal while it is still hot
There is also a possibility that you may try and the result may not be as you have planned it to be, so what will you do? Simply, do not stop taking actions even if you are not seeing the immediate result. It does not matter how many times you have failed at an action, it does not mean that you cannot get it right at the next trial. However, the point you stop trying is the point you have conceded the defeat. The number of times you failed at an attempt does not define your success.

The truth is that if you try and not get the desired result, you are better than the person that has not deemed it fit to try. Obviously, failing only means that you made an attempt, so keep making the attempt. This reminds me of what a friend and mentor once said:
It is better to make an attempt, even if it means failing at it, than not trying at all.
This is true because when you have made an attempt towards your dream, you would get enough lessons and experience from that attempt that will even go to simplify your next attempt. So as you are taking actions at the right time, also resolve within your heart not to quit until your dream is actualized.
