Morning Steemers,
So let's talk Roczen for a minute. The likable German has had a very rough couple of years and it's great to see him back on a bike and making positive moves in his recovery. There has been obvious improvements each weekend on the bike and you can still see the flashes of brilliance that reminds you of the old Ken. He is literally killing it on the starts right now and that's in a field packed with talent such as Tomac, Musquin, Barcia and Bagget.
He took a brace of second places in Thunder Valley and was up front for most of that time before succumbing to the in form Tomac who is undeniably at his peak right now. He also impressed at Glen Helen and again this weekend in Southwick again putting his bike up front at the start of the racing.
Ken himself though is not happy with these results and you can see it in his eyes when you see the post race interviews. He knows that without the injuries he would be up front and easily pacing these guys. Now don't take it that i think Tomac, Musquin or anyone of these guys are chumps, not even close but the truth is Ken was a level above before he got injured.
Ken himself has released a statement which addresses his own thoughts.
Ken Roczen
Factory Honda HRC
"It was a little bit of a struggle. We made some changes to the bike to help me out a little bit, but you do not want to make too many changes on race day. It is still a learning curve after so much time off the bike. I am trying everything at home to get back, but I feel like race shape is just going to take a little time. Today was brutal—super-hot and the track was pretty beat—plus I have not been here in a couple years.
"I fought it out and I am just going to continue working with the team and working on myself to get better. I am healthy and got good starts again, so I am pretty happy from that side. I have been going quite hard throughout the week, trying to put in more and more work, but I think sometimes it is good to take it a notch down and fully recover. RedBud could be another hot one, so we will recover and hopefully have a good race next weekend."
Now that does not sound like someone who is happy where is he running right now, which let me tell you is in fourth and only twenty three points down on third! I mean most riders would kill for a season end that good but that shows you exactly where Roczen wants to be, back at the top! I firmly believe he can get there but with the bangs his body has taken it will take a lot of hard work and dedication. If anyone can do it though Roczen can. Good luck mate, we are all routing for you :)
