In the French MotoGP qualifying session at Le Mans circuit on Saturday (19/05/2018), Zarco recorded the best time. Monster Yamaha Tech3 rider made a lap record at Le Mans with a record time of one minute 31.185 seconds.

Marquez actually got to be the best with a record time of one minute 31.315 seconds. But Zarco then surpassed Marquez with a record. Marquez tried to respond again, but his best time record was not enough to shift Zarco from pole position.
"Of course we gave everything in qualification, we know that the lap time, I think it's fast enough, 31.3 seconds, but then I see Johann who is even faster than me, 31.1.It is amazing," said Marquez
"Even like this I try to insist in the third round, and I can be faster, but not enough."
"I made a mistake in sector 2, but anyway he deserves to pole, he's so fast."
"For tomorrow we'll see, I think we have the same speed, three or four riders, and it will be difficult to be on the podium, but we will try," said Marquez about the race.
