I made them valve amplifiers, with help.
I get bored if I have nothing to fix or make, hence why I restore motorbikes.
Winter here can be quite harsh, I do the basics, shopping, feed all the animals, take daughter to school, spend hours playing games with her, but still have a mass of time on my indoor hands, so I make electronics.
Last winter I was making 100 watt plus 100 watt integrated amplifiers, this year I went for pure class A valve mono blocks.
We have 20 watts pure class A at 8 ohm. And the valves are the sort easily available here - 6s33s and 6n6p, the sound? AMAZING.
If I was in the UK I would have made a kt66 or kt88 amplifier, as they are easy to find, I do have some GEC kt66's in my collection of things, they are though for my daughter to sell one day when I am gone, so they were never going to be used here.
I actually managed to pick another 2 spare brand new valves up off eBay last week (6s33s) It was quite odd too. someone wanted $31 for them in the Ukraine next door. I offered $25 and they counter offered $24, of course I clicked buy now. :-)
So here I sit tonight listening to Enya as I type, with a wall of fantastic sound behind my keyboard, stuck in the 80's ? Maybe, but by god it sounds amazing, I feel for the people that will never hear sound like this unless they go to a multiplex cinema.
Turntable?
Pro-ject carbon, running a goldring e3 purple - new cartridge, it blows away my £3,000 cd player, in fact since I have had this turntable set up, I can not even be bothered to turn the cd player on.
Even with a warm and inviting sounding pair of amplifiers, the cd now sounds harsh, clinical, lacking in depth, fake, and just bloody useless.
So I may as well play you some tunes, through what ever it is you use to listen via.
I am now listening to Frank Zappa - joes garage, you may not like that though lol so!!!!!!!
Here is 1 hour and 16 minutes of Bob Marley.
Have a superb weekend one and all, I am playing silly buggers with motorbikes in the AM, two more arrived today.
